Operating in the maritime sector in Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and Iraq, YDA Group, under its YDA Maritime & Shipbuilding brand, is making strategic investment plans in the region and closely following significant maritime projects.
AYDA International Integrated Defence Systems, established through a partnership between ASFAT and YDA, is developing projects not only in the defense sector of Kazakhstan and Iraq but also in the maritime industry.
In April 2024, a roadmap agreement was signed between ASFAT, Kazakhstan Engineering, and YDA Group for maritime projects in Kazakhstan. Recognizing that shipbuilding and repair play a critical role in the sustainability of the maritime industry, YDA Group is preparing to launch a shipyard by the end of 2025 in Kazakhstan to provide essential services such as ship construction and maintenance. This shipyard will construct new military and commercial vessels and perform maintenance and repairs on both commercial and military ships.
Additionally, a strategic investment plan prepared by AYDA to establish the largest shipbuilding and repair shipyard on the Caspian Sea was completed in 2024. Following its approval by Kazakh authorities, work on the project commenced promptly.
With the construction of the new shipyard, various types of new vessels required by different Kazakh government agencies will be built, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul services will be provided for existing maritime assets. The facility will also serve neighboring countries in the region.
In Iraq’s Basra region, YDA Group is undertaking similar maritime initiatives, having signed significant protocols and commenced operations accordingly. In both countries, the objectives include the construction of various types and sizes of military and commercial vessels, joint production of armed/unarmed unmanned surface vessels, and the initiation of domestic and national military shipbuilding.
